httpTorrents offers direct downloads of popular torrents
Torrent sites are a lot of people's first stop for music, movies and other files, but not everyone has figured out how to use BitTorrent. If you don't know or don't like BitTorrent, you might still be able to find the downloads you want using regular old HTTP. The site that's making this happen is called httpTorrents.
Although only a small percentage of the most popular torrents have been added for direct download, trying to download a torrent that httpTorrents doesn't have will put it on their list to be added. Using httpTorrents is as simple as grabbing the hash of the torrent you want (which you can find this on most torrent search sites) and pasting it in. If you're a fan of KickassTorrents, you may have spotted httpTorrents links there, as the two sites seem to have partnered up.
It's an interesting idea, but who knows how long httpTorrents will stick around. Because direct download requires the files to be stored on a central server somewhere this project is a bit of a legal toss-up compared to BitTorrent.

I give it a month before the RIAA, Paramount, Metallica, Sony or all those different international copyright entities come close it down. Unless the servers are located underground or in international waters.

500-Internal server error. Has it already been pulled down or overwhelmed.

Well, there is a solution without central storage. The httpTorrents site merely passes through the torrent data onto your PC, doing all of the work of the torrent client, and your PC essentially just becomes a remote storage location for httpTorrents. Pass-through.

http://www.kickasstorrents.com is also currently throwing a 500 ISE about 15% of the time.
Perhaps they just have extended server load

Isn't this what FURK.net has been doing for a long time?

Oh, so if you haven't "figured out how to use BitTorrent" (whatever that means), all you have to do is find the hash. It may sound simple but to a user that can't use bittorrent, this might as well be impossible.

What a load of crap!
I put a few torrent hashes into it - no result for any of them.
These were all 0day releases, so thought "oh well ... maybe it takes a few days for them to get them on their server"
So grabbed 5-6 random torrents from top100 downloads at fav site. It was able to find NONE of them. These are files @ like 10000 seeds.
Useless. Dont waste yr time.
Download squad - your editorial standards really slipped promoting this one. Dont know who was scratching your back to put it up there, but thanks for the tip and the 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back after following a false lead.
How about checking if it works next time?
