Pumpkin Push -- a Halloween-themed Time Waster

You'll never guess what the primary purpose of this game is. OK, OK, stop guessing! I'll tell you: you gotta push pumpkins!

But it's not as simple as that. It's not just a Boulderdash clone with Halloween-skinned baddies and pumpkins for stones -- no, it's like some kind of fantastic mash-up of Boulderdash, Mega Man and Pac Man. In Pumpkin Push you play a plucky pumpkin-pushin' protagonist whose primary objective is to clean the world of various undead ghouls. Vampires, ghosts, robot-pumpkins... they're all here and waiting to be vanquished.


It's a very simple game with only three mechanics: your arrow keys move you around; if you push against a single pumpkin, you jump over it -- and if you hit space, you push a pumpkin in a straight line. It's the last one that kills the enemy. And... it's surprisingly tricky! You get a lot of lives and continues, so you won't be unduly punished for not doing very well -- but the monsters do move pretty quickly, and you can fast find yourself in a fix, surrounded by double-layers of pumpkins that you can't jump over.

I don't know how big the game is, but there was even an end-boss at the end of the first world! This thing might prove be more than just a mere time-waster...! You can even play as a girl.

There's even a hint on the options/help screen that two people can play at once -- cooperative Mega Man style! -- but I couldn't find a way to activate it.

You should give this one a go. It's one of the better Flash games out there at the moment.
