Microsoft responds to Windows 7 student upgrade SNAFU with direct ISO download

Update links:
Home Premium x86: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65732/X15-65732.iso
Home Premium x64: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65733/X15-65733.iso
Professional x86: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65804/X15-65804.iso
Professional x64: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65805/X15-65805.iso
Thanks to Phil for the update!
Also, don't bother downloading this ISO if you don't have a valid student-only product key. You'll probably be able to install it, but your key won't activate the OS.
Your product key MUST MATCH the version you install. A Pro key will not activate a Home Premium install.
Once you download the disc, just open the ISO with your favorite burning software and burn it to a DVD - or drop it on a 4GB or larger USB drive using Microsoft's free utility.

I got ripped off by Digital River & Symantec 8 years ago, trying to purchase an upgrade to Symantec's complete suite. They charged my debit card, but the download would always fail at 75% (after hours of waiting). Neither DR nor Symantec would respond to months of emails. I'll never do busines with either entity again. It's good to see MS step up to the plate when there's an issue, but why oh why use an EPIC FAIL like Digital River??

I assume this download works for both the Pro and Premium versions?

Here is the link for x64 Pro:

UPDATE:
If you need the Home Premium x64 ISO, you can use this utility to make the above ISO "universal" (i.e. it will ask you which version when you run Setup).

Your link is crap, it's just the same exe and two box files that was originally provided by Digital River in an ISO file. That won't help anyone... see my post below for the links to all 4 versions.

Can i activate a pro disk with the home premium key obtained from digital river?
Lee MathewsOct 28th 2009 11:36AM
Short version: no. See newly added note in the post!
sanjayshankar79Oct 28th 2009 11:43AM
Thanks for the prompt reply. Will the 64 bit Home premium key work with the 32 bit ISO?
Lee MathewsOct 28th 2009 11:44AM
I can't speak for the student upgrade, but the Windows 7 retail upgrade package includes both the 32 and 64-bit DVDs and only ONE product key.
So I suspect yes, it will likely work.
Anyone else know otherwise?
sitrucOct 28th 2009 11:57AM
It's not clear if the links are for Home Premium or Professional.
whazzupOct 28th 2009 12:13PM
yes, the digital river serials works for both 32bit and 64bit versions, tested it on my notebook.
JnettyOct 28th 2009 12:26PM
The 32bit link that you have http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65733/X15-65733.iso
I just tried and It installs Home Premium 64bit not 32bit.
VarunOct 28th 2009 12:32PM
Okay, if I've got this right, this is what you're telling us in the post:
Win7, x86 (32-bit) Home Premium Upgrade ONLY: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65733/X15-65733.iso
Win7, x64 (64-bit) Professional Upgrade ONLY: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-79946/X15-79946.iso
Your post does NOT have:
-x86 Pro Upgrade
-x64 Home Premium Upgrade.
Is this a correct understanding? Because this is the most confusing post I've ever seen on DLS.
Lee MathewsOct 28th 2009 12:38PM
Varun-
Those are the only links we've found so far. Use the version switcher app VT4000 mentioned if you need one of the other versions. It will switch any version's ISO to any other version.

From "PaintTheSkyGrey" over at Gizmodo:

Part 2 (3 URL Limit FTL!):
Professional x86: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65804/X15-65804.iso
Professional x64: http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65805/X15-65805.iso
On a side note, I'm having SERIOUS problems getting these downloads to finish... they'll get to certain points 2MB, 4MB, 8MB, 103MB, and just quit. I think the server is getting hammered and it's just cutting the downloads off.
JasonOct 28th 2009 1:20PM
Nice, now everyone can leech their bandwidth which was supposed to only be used by customers who bought it online. Customers who now have to deal with terribly slow downloads, if they work at all. Way to go guys!
Sarcasm of course, these links were not supposed to be shared.
JnettyOct 28th 2009 1:02PM
This link for X64bit Pro
http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-79946/X15-79946.iso
This is not a regular bootable ISO, all it is is the three files you would normally download from before
setup1.box
setup2.box
Win7-P-Retail-en-us-x64
There are too many different links.
PhilOct 28th 2009 1:22PM
Yeah, I was annoyed by that... but at least we have real links now.

No, there are too many people like you posting incorrect links. This link is not to the iso and is a dead link anyway. Beleive me I have tried since thurs to get this downloaded, you are not helping.
