Google Wave will have an App Store too!
In rather exciting (though perhaps predictable) news, Google has announced that there will be an official Wave App Store!
There are still very few people using Wave, but hopefully you've all watched the Wave technology demo and been suitably impressed, or even dribbled a little if you're like me.
I'm sure as the codebase solidifies and bugs are ironed out, we'll begin to see a lot more invites, and eventually a public beta. With the Google Wave App store announced, I would expect to see some more developers jump on the bandwagon too -- perhaps jumping ship (or at least splitting their attention) from the iPhone App Store.
It would seem that the industry -- the service, web application and game sectors -- are starting to realise the power of user-generated and small-developer-generated content. Gone are the days of Windows or Space Invaders being developed in someone's garage or basement. But in its place, we have more easily-extensible and open frameworks than ever before. We can expect to see very exciting things from Wave and its App Store.

Unless Apple decides it duplicates some iPhone functionality :-P

Hah...
I wouldn't like to see Apple vs. Google in court.
The streets would be filled with dead fanboys that have fought to the death...

Google were kind enough to send me an invite this weekend. Alas I don't know anyone else with a Wave account yet though. From what little I've played around with it, it does feel like it really needs easier to access app functionality as well. I'd also like some bots to automatically aggregate information off other sites for me as well.

Did your account get an invites as well? If so, I'd be happy to take one off your hands... and then you'd "know" someone else with a Wave account.

Whoops. I meant to say "Did your account get *any* invites as well" in that shameless begging.

When I saw that invites were going for $50-100 on Ebay, I almost sold my last one!

Sorry mike, I've only got invitation nominations and they're all quickly going out to my friends.
Was having a better play around with it today with a friend, same opinion as everyone else. Waves get too messy too quick without someone in charge. Really need to be able to add kind of rules. Also it gets SLOW if you keep doing loads of stuff with it.

Yep, the performance still has some way to go -- I guess we're hitting on the limitations of Javascript here -- it's even slow on my big gaming rig.
Or perhaps some debug code is turned on... who knows :)
