Fastest Browser - webkit builds
and it has the bookmarks of Safari.
Best alt browser Firefox
used to be Opera, but lately it's been really slow & glitchy
Miro - like iTunes where you can sub & download video shows. Though search function not as good on 2.0+ as it was on 1.0.
VLC - the video player that plays all formats. There's also Movist which has the VLC engine. Quicktime pro in excellent 'cause you can edit without having to load up imovie.
Visualhub - best video encoder. not sure if it's still available. What it did was put FFmpegx in a more user friendly form. Handbrake is best alternative though you can't stitch files like VH, but is free.
Appcleaner - when you activate smart delete in the preferences it automatically show extras when you delete a program.
Afloat - keeps windows above others so they don't get buried, also adjusts tranparency.
Growl - not essential, just a notifier.
Realplayer - the player is awful but it has a function you activate from it Realplayer Downloader (you quit realplayer after) It autograbs any video you watch (some exceptions) & if you watch with default browser they're already named.
