Maybe not. Someone's betting that some users hate the updated menu system enough that they'll be willing to pay for an application that mimics the Classic start menu.

What the hell, people. There may be other little annoyances in Windows 7 that we'd prefer had never changed from the XP days, but the start menu? It's so much easier to just tap the Win key and start typing what I want to launch than browsing through an immense list of folders. I can't recall the last time I actually clicked through the start menu to find a program.
The fact that this program exists doesn't surprise me. After all, charging money for access to outdated features is a time-tested way for IT companies to rake in a little extra cash.

While I can imagine some curmudgeonly users still prefer the Classic start menu, surely no one's willing to pay $25 to get it in Win7?!

I totally use classic start menu in XP. I never bothered to learn what they made new in XP and it still annoys me that my program menu collapses. That said, I'm not about to pay $25 for that when Win7 comes out.
It sure is fun to watch IT try and find programs when they've got my laptop on VNC!

I prefer the classic star menu too (By the way purplecomet84, right click on task bar, select properties, click on the Start Menu tab, click the Customize button to the right of Classic Start menu, scroll to the bottom and deselect Use Personalize Menus. That should do away with your program menu collapsing. At least, I think that's what you're talking about.), but I'm definitely not paying anything for the feature. I tend to not even use the Start menu anymore anyway as I use my Logitech G15 and RocketDock for the programs I use 99% of the time.

I love the Vista start menu paired with live search it's by far a feature I would upgrade from XP to Vista for in a heartbeat. I find though that even experienced users that I know overlook live search. I continually try and speed things up if people need my help only to find out that they have no idea where the search bar is or how to use it. I hope that Windows 7 can generate more credit to this wonderful feature.

What if you don't have a very big list of programs, then doing it graphical is faster rather than typing. Which is my case. I don't load my computer up with a bunch of crap.

If the next version of Windows required using a goddamn joystick for text input, you'd say that was obviously "progress". Oh, but wait, Bill Gates said the mouse is the input device of the future. Oh, however will we sort out this terrible conundrum?? LOL!
Windows XP will still be the most popular OS on Earth long after Windows 7 has followed Vista down the toilet.

The author is an idiot thinking that everyone in the world thinks like him and uses the computer the same way. I hate typing when my hand is on the mouse, I prefer to find what I want using a simple menu, not some fully blown overkill taking up half of my screen.
I suggest the author and his forum friends buy the newest car which does not have a steering wheel, but the angle and radius of a turn is entered with keyboard. I cannot imagine why anyone would prefer this old-fashoned ugly steering wheel :P
