Mozilla Weave 0.4: Synchronize Firefox settings across computers
Weave 0.4 adds support for preference syncing, automatic logins, and support for Fennec 1.0 beta 2 for Maemo Linux. That last one means you the mobile version of Firefox for Nokia Internet Tablets can be configured to have all of your desktop bookmarks, passwords, and other settings with just a few clicks. Eventually Weave should also work with Fennec for Windows Mobile and other mobile platforms, which could save you an awful lot of time when setting up a mobile browser.

Hey guys, how does Weave compare to Xmarks? I just like having the different sync profiles on Xmarks, so that I can sync across different PCs and make sure certain bookmarks are hidden from those I chose.

It sounds similar to Xmarks, however, I don't think Xmarks synchronizes browsing history, so this might be better in that respect. For me, though, I use Xmarks to sync my Firefox with Safari, and I assume that this is a Firefox only extension. Xmarks does everything I NEED it to do.

Does this Weave stuff only work with FF 3.5? Their website sure makes it sound like it.

So this is basically the same thing as FEBE? FEBE allows you to backup your bookmarks, settings, etc. individually... or you can backup or restore your entire profile in one shot.
It's the first thing I do on a new install and the only negative thing for me is that I have to go and get the FEBE extension and install it before I can restore my profile (which I either have online or on a flash drive). Before I do that, though, I need to open the profile manager and create a new "profile" because FEBE doesn't have the ability to restore to the active profile. Weave sounds like it can restore to the active profile, but it doesn't sound like you can backup or restore an entire profile - just most of the important pieces (I don't see "settings" as an actual option, but that's very important and included in FEBE).
It also doesn't appear to let you create a local backup. It's cool if everything's stored online, but what if you don't have internet access when it's time to do the backup or restore... or what if you're at work and it's specifically blocked by something like Websense?
I love the idea (which has been done before by a utility I always use) and hope that it grows, but I don't see any reason to move away from FEBE right now.
