Microsoft begins working on SP3 for Vista
In the early stages of Windows 7 development, there were those who scoffed that the new OS would essentially become Vista SP3. Joking aside, since we already know that Vista is going to be available for purchase quite a while, it stands to reason that there will be another service pack at some point in the future.
If you check in on Micrsoft Help and Support on a regular basis, you may have noticed Fix256923, which lists its release target as SP3. Of course, Microsoft has posted more than one odd page recently, so this may amount to nothing more than another publishing gaff.
The first two Vista service packs provided solid upgrades for the much-maligned operating system. With Windows 7 development moving ahead full steam and its release coming later this year, however, it remains to be seen how much of a priority delivering a Vista SP3 will be - especially since SP2 just hit RTM last month.

I heard about SP2 coming out and all, but never came in AU, so when will it be? I did get Office SP2 though.

Hi
This is very common in all Windows versions in the Hotfixes being named as the next Service Pack as once a SP ie. SP2 for Vista is released all subsequent hotfixes are tagged as the next SP as in this case SP3, if they where to release a full SP3 for Vista at some point the following hotfixes will be names SP4 etc
@RUGRLN ~ SP2 on AU will be slowly be released over next few months, saves a large strain on the WU servers, can though get the full package for SP2 Vista now saves waiting for the AU release.

In all honesty Vista was a good system if you had the right hardware. Windows 7 is a whole lot more functional. However this is the release candidate. I have windows 7. I ABSOLUTLY love it. I downloaded and installed it as my main. With the intention to buy it when i had the chance. I tried it multiple ways before i went ahead and installed it.

Windows 7 has a lot less functionality than Vista, so I call "Jason" on this.
I've been running the pre-fork RC and RC builds. Windows 7 to me is a colossal disappointment, and I have a shrink-wrap box for Windows NT v3.1 here, so I've been plugging away at NT for some time.
Whoever is running Microsoft right now, bing and the new input system for Xbox is great, however, Ribbons being forced into office and Windows 7 are just terrible product management. They are going for the "last 10% of the market" pissing off everyone who used this software for ages by moving stuff and de-featurizing stuff is stupid ways.
