Linux Foundation relaunches Linux.com
Earlier this year the Linux Foundation took over control of Linux.com, which had previously been maintained by SourceForge. This week the Linux Foundation unveiled the new face of Linux.com.
The new site features blog posts, forums, a list of popular Linux distributions, complete with download links, and news and information about software, hardware, and other topics of interest to the Linux community. The site is the product of input from community members who submitted and voted on ideas at IdeaForge.

Is it me or does this look virtually identical to www.thinkvitamin.com?
I wonder if Ryan Carson was involved, or has someone cheekily ripped off their design?

Ah... I've just realised that http://www.thinkvitamin.com uses a WooTheme, so presumably http://www.linux.com is using the same theme.

They totally, totally, totally got "inspired" (well, I'll say "copied verbatim") Fresh News from Woo Themes. The Fresh News designer noticed too (http://twitter.com/mjepson/status/1782070494). Unless they paid for the theme and then converted it to Joomla!, I think it's kind of shady to flat-out take a basic design idea (we're talking colors, exact proportions, probably almost identical stylings) for a site like this.

It appears that http://www.linux.com is using a Joomla Template from Joomlart - this CSS file (http://www.linux.com/templates/ja_vauxite/css/ja.news.css) on linux.com points to the template JA Vauxite (http://www.joomlart.com/templates_demo.php?template=ja_vauxite).
I really hope they've paid for a Fresh News theme too - using a Joomla Template that seems to borrow heavily from the proportions and basic layout of FN is one thing. But then incorporating pretty much the same color scheme as the FN design, that's too much.
Like you say, you wouldn't expect that from a high profile site like this, so hopefully everything is above board.

I wrote a blog post about this. Like martin.hicks said, Linux.com is using a Joomla template from Joomlart. The thing is that template by default is very different from how Linux.com is using it. Who ever did the linux.com "design" or implementation had to have changed it to specifically look like ThinkVitamin.com
Here's my post with some commenting starting to happen...
