Portable Windows Movie Maker
So one developer decided to take matters into his own hands and create a portable version of Windows Movie Maker based on Movie Maker 2.1. You can run Portable Windows Movie Maker on any computer with Windows XP, Vista, or 7. And since it's portable, you can run it from a USB flash drive or a folder on your hard drive without installing it.
As an added bonus, the developer added some extra transitions and effects.

I know everyone hates on Movie Maker, mainly because it crashes on anything but the basic codecs, but if you save a lot and are patient, the final product is pretty decent for a program that is free.

I would argue it's not actually free, it's part of the cost of a windows license.

As an added bonus, it's very, very small. The whole thing is only ~5MB. WAY smaller than practically any video editing program out there.

VirtualDub definitely has its place. It can do some pretty amazing things with video for a portable app that can do so much with video. I would say if you know the ins and outs of it, it definitely more powerful than WMM. But for the average end user who likes a rich GUI and ease of use, WMM serves a good purpose. There are clearly many superior apps that are also user friendly, but in a pinch, an app that is already on most Windows systems is handy.

Anyone else get a Trojan in the download? I just downloaded and extracted and Norton told me the Runonce has a trojan in it.
So much for using that program.
