YouTube goes Hulu, adds TV, movies
Now YouTube is stepping up its game, by offering content from TV and movie studios in a new section labeled "Shows." According to the New York Times, Google has signed agreements to distribute content from Sony, Lions Gate, CBS, MGM, and other studios.
The move will allow YouTube to place pre-roll, post-roll, and interstitial ads in video content, something it doesn't do with user generated videos.
Right now, the selection of TV shows and movies on YouTube is rather sad. Most of the content consists of old programs that you probably forgot existed, plus one new show from CBS: Harper's Island. Since Fox and NBC are the driving forces behind Hulu, it's not likely that we'll see their content on YouTube anytime soon. And there's talk that ABC could joing Hulu in the not too distant future.

He's not kidding. Even youtube is blocking Canadians from watching tv shows that are available to us on basic cable...

Funny that this hits and Pirate Bay guys are handed a jail sentence in the same day... Last night the wife and I tried to catch up on some shows via Hulu. Guess what? Totally unwatchable. Despite our speedy connection and clear signal and no other LAN traffic, every 30 seconds the video would stop and buffer. Took me back to 1999 and my 56k connection and RealPlayer.
So until the media geniuses figure it out, we'll always have bittorrent.

Just a quick question. How fast is your "speedy" internet connection? I have a 3mbps connection and hulu works great for me.

I love HULU, I never had an issue with it and selection is great. By the way I use DSL on my MAC Mini. Maybe its the speed and type of connection you guys use.

Another place for us poor slobs not living in the US to not enjoy watching tv shows. When did the internet move to the DVD model??

If you wish to watch Hulu or others try Ancor free and there product Hot Spot Shield I have used this for a the last year and have no problems though there are some ads to deal with.
