Mozilla Weave 0.3 syncs Firefox bookmarks, passwords, history
It's been a while since we checked in on Mozilla Weave, an experimental project that lets you synchronize your data across Firefox browsers on different machines. This week Weave hit version 0.3 and the latest version does a lot more than synchronize bookmarks. It also lets you synchronize your saved passwords, browsing history, and even your open tabs.
The tab sync feature lets you login to Firefox on your laptop and instantly pull up any tabs that are open on your desktop. Even more impressive, Weave 0.3 works with Fennec, which is the beta version of Firefox for mobile devices like cellphones and PDAs. And that means you can open a few tabs on your desktop or laptop to read later, walk out of the house and start reading those same web pages when you load Fennec on your mobile browser on your way to work.
Firefox add-on Xmarks (formerly known as Foxmarks) provides similar features, but it doesn't have the ability to synchronize browser and tab histories.

Now if only they can add syncing for extensions and themes ...that'd be incredible.

Well that will come in eventually as those options are in the settings menu for it, just are greyed out as of the moment.

That's really very useful, I think the majority of users, as well as I personally, will like these new options. I am used to downloading nesessary soft and applications for my browser using torrents (there are lots of them at http://file.sh ), but now everything seems to be ok without extra downloading.

This thing seems to have been "experimental" for an eternity... and it's still only at 0.3.
If previous versions are anything to go by then I'd advise against using it for now.... I (and many others judging by the forums) where plagued with functional and performance issues prompting me to ditch it until it became a mature product.
However, Xmarks (formerly foxmarks) and LastPass have become my no.1 sync tools for bookmarks/passwords I doubt i'd change now. Personally I look at tabs, history and theme syncing as fluff.

Misspelling in the title... passords :)

Weave is such a nondescriptive name...doesn't really give you an idea of what the product might do (it weaves my tabs and bookmarks into a tapestry?). They should go for a name that's a bit more representative of the functionality. I say we start calling it Google Browser Sync.

Yeah that would make sense if it was put out by Google.........................................................................
