CraigsList Reader makes searching Craiglist (even more) simple
There are thousands of ads for apartment listings, jobs, used furniture, computers, and other items on CraigsList. And while the site offers some pretty decent search features, sorting through the results can be a bit of hassle. That's where CraigsList Reader comes in. This free (and ad supported) Windows utility lets you conduct detailed CraigsList searches and arrange or bookmark the results.
First you need to select one or more locations to search and then pick a category or two. Then just enter your search terms and away you go. It takes a moment for the search results to pop up, but once they do you can arrange them by category, location, price, or other characteristics.
You can right click on any listing for more options. For instance, you can open an item in a web browser or add it to your favorites. CraigsList Reader can also send you notifications when new listings meeting your criteria are posted.

That's pretty nice. A good way to combine multiple RSS feeds definitely, so you can see multiple cities. I worked on a site to search by zip/radius (craigsy.com), but we sort by date just like normal craigslist. It just makes it easier to search an area without having to choose individual places.

I thought the whole point of "Web 2.0" was to not have to install more crap on your desktop.

Look at the review at download.com

seems to have spyware in this.

All I see is one user review from somebody whose antivirus setup is screwed up.
There's nothing to suggest that this software is the culprit, rather than the user's own incompetence.

I rarely download utilities from strangers anymore (though getting a good mention on DLS calms the qualms a little). In this case, there's no need; I use http://www.craigshelper.com/. Since it began some time back, it has become a little flashier, but it's a great site for searching multiple CL cities at the same time.

I use http://CraigsPal.com for ages now. Works just fine.
I gave a try to CraigsList reader, it is so much (at least 5 times) slower than CraigsPal?!? and found less results than in CraigsPal.
I'll stick with the old school.

This is not really a replacement to Craigslist Reader but it is handy for searching from a mobile phone/PDA/Blackberry.

The site stores your a search session that you can reference in the future. It is great for ongoing searches for deals.
