Microsoft launches Thrive to assist IT workers

Good news, IT professionals! Microsoft has launched Thrive - a new website designed to help you navigate the murky waters of economic downturn.
Whether you're looking to improve your skills, the Silverlight-driven site offers all kinds of resources to assist you - podcasts, videos, charts and reports, and much more. Thrive offers information on everything from infrastructure cost reduction to education and certification. There's a lot of cross-linking to other MS sites like MSDN, but it is a good, centralized resource for IT workers with a Microsoft focus.
I wonder if any of the 5,000 Microsoft employees laid off in January will make use of the site to get their careers back on track.
One additional note: it may just have been my install, but the site looks like hell in Firefox. Perhaps one of the things we all need to learn to "Thrive" is that Microsoft still doesn't give a rat's ass about standards compliance.

Yup, looks like crap in Firefox on my computer too. My Firefox install is 3.0.6 with no tweaks or anything either. Weird.

Classic!
And yet I do so an equivalence between rat's asses and Silverlight. Hmmmm. I think it is because they are both full of the same thing...

yea, firefox doesn't look very nice on there. (Silverlight doesn't even load properly)

If it takes longer than five seconds to load a web page on a fast connection, there's way too much chutzpa garbage going on on the website.
The website is full of the same MS... They seem to think slogans will make your life better.
Have fun!
Be more productive!
Get a job!
Buy a MacBook!
No actual content. Just fluff.

Or, you know:
1. Go to any other website that has info about opensource tools,
2. Learn new skills
3. Profit
3 might come in handy when 7 is deemed to expensive for this economy.

Works fine for me. I just think the title/subtitle font is ugly, and I don't see what Silverlight is needed for, except just the video portion.

Like many of their sites, they put up a pretty sign, then dump you into an unnavigatable mess of information you'll sooner drown in than learn from. I'll take my Safari Library over Microsoft Learning any day of the week.
