Is this Windows Mobile 6.5? Probably. - Video
The operating system performance seems a bit choppy, but that's likely because this is a beta. If you watch through the rather lengthy video from start to finish you'll see some pretty significant changes to the look and feel of Windows Mobile, including:
- Drag and drop, touch friendly, navigation of many screens
- A new "honeycomb" style program launcher
- Touch friendly Today screen with large fonts and icons
- Larger, easier to use context menus
- New on screen keyboard with larger keys
- New mobile version of Internet Explorer with improved page rendering, zoom, and full screen features

That is the worst looking OS I have ever laid eyes on. Palm and Apple are putting out great software while MS looks like they are digging in the dumpster and putting scraps of code together.

What exactly is so bad about it? WinMo is still the king of exchange integration. I honestly don't see what you're complaining about. Let's get a point by point breakdown of everything you see in that video that's dumpster quality code. Otherwise you're just trolling.

Looks? This is kinda like a pre-alpha, you know? As far as I know, Windows Mobile is very versatile and can probably out-function either of the two.
Obviously, Windows Mobile isn't meant for everyone, but I'm hoping Windows Mobile 7 will change that.

The difference between this OS and what Palm and Apple put out is that I can make Windows Mobile look like **whatever I want**. On the other OSes, All I can get is a grid-wall of installed apps because that's what the manufacturer says.
Also, I honestly don't see what's so pretty in the iPhone UI. I know the forms in Windows Mobile's various settings screens look old and simple, but I don't see the iPhone stuff a sbeing really "pretty". Maybe some of what Palm demoed in their new OS could be called that though.

I dont think the keyboard is part of it or the larger context menus that is part of the HTC Touch HD.

Interesting upgrade, however still too many screens and controls [sliders, buttons, scroll bars etc] are designed for stylus and not fingers - fine for a PDA but pretty crap for mobile phone. Sony and HTC might put fancy GUI on the top of this but so far it's been a pretty thin veneer and these PDA designed screens have to be accessed at some stage or another.
Plus the advantage that Windows has of supporting a large range hardware is also a curse as MS can't opitmise the OS to match the graphic performance of other devices. Of course this should change when the Tegra platform is available, but that could be a while off yet.
