Installation: while not too painful was annoying as it forced me to re-install the same version of AIR I already had. It would be nice if the code actually checked before forcing a new install.

Settings: Could never get it to work w/Facebook even after manually configuring FB to allow Alerty access to everything it asked. Also no access to how often it requests updates. For Twitter users, the latter needs to be included. Has no filters (that I could ascertain) to avoid double data being culled.

Use: Pretty simple to use barring the annoyances above. However, it merges every feed into one long stream. The current version is a bit confusing frankly. And if you add RSS feeds it becomes even worse.

Overall: Off to a good start but I won't be abandoning twhirl anytime soon. It still needs a lot of work, IMHO.
