Greasemonkey script lets YouTube videos buffer
Around 7pm CST every weekday, YouTube becomes painful to use where I live. Downloading just can't keep up with playback and the clips end up limping along until they're totally cached.
I'd rather just cache the whole clip first then watch it - which is precisely what Youtube Buffer Video for Greasemonkey is designed to do.
Install and activate it, and autoplay is automatically disabled on YouTube pages. Sit back and let them buffer as long as you like, and click play when you're ready. My ISP isn't always running at peak performance, so it's nice to have control over when playback begins.
There's nothing more to it. Like many Userscripts, it's a small, simple tweak that might fix a web site annoyance you figured you'd just have to deal with.

Am I missing something here, or can't you just do that anyway by pressing pause right at the start of the clip? I mean, I live in India, and up until recently, I had a 256k connection; watching a clip online *without* letting it cache entirely first was pretty much the only option. Anytime I saw something on YouTube, I just pressed pause right as the video started, and then it cached on its own without playback.
Really. Am I missing something, or is that all that this script does?

Nope, that's pretty much it. I like things not starting on their own by default, though, so the script is useful to me.

Ah. Fair enough.
But you could just press pause when you load the page in the first place. :P
Still. Can never be too efficient, I guess. :)

I imagine it's useful if, say, you're watching one video and see an interesting link to another, so you open it up in another tab. With this script, (I presume) you can let it load in that other tab while you continue watching the first video without interruption.

useless script. All you have to do is press pause and your issue is solved. No need for a script.
