Windows 7 Beta ISO leaked on torrent trackers

The ISO appears to contain the Windows 7 M1 build (7000) highlighted by Paul Thurrott on SuperSite. So far the new build seems to perform slightly better than 6801, and memory usage has been improved. A number of previously hidden features - like the iconized task bar - are also now active.
Before comments start asking why there's no link to the file, it's because this is something that we're not supposed to have yet. If you want to get your hands on it, check your favorite torrent search site. Also keep in mind that this is a leak, and there's always the possibility that the ISO has been tampered with.

Running it now! Only had to install the sigmatel driver (not the XP version) off the OSX 10.5 disk. Very stable!!!!

Exactly. Why not just get the official beta? Who know what kind of malware comes with these torrents...

Been using it for about 14 hours now and absolutely LOVE it. The bigger taskbar was different at first, but I've actually already grown to like it. It looks too weird with the smaller icons. And I can't get over the simplicity of it so far...
The only problem I had was installing my drivers, but that Compatibility thing is amazing and I was online (via wifi) in no time. Another favorite feature is the screensaveresque wallpaper thing that it does... seriously love those new scenery shots.
Windows 7 will seriously bring back some people, and really be the OS that makes the people who went back to XP finally upgrade.
Microsoft really has a great product here...

The taskbar is big so that when people use it on a touchscreen, it is easier to use.
Brent SchmidtJan 2nd 2009 9:22PM
I could say, yeah but how many pc's are touchscreen these days, but by the time the OS launches I'm sure they'll be some more system out there with that technology... which I think is a gimmick (who can really sit that close to a computer?) but still...
Brent SchmidtDec 28th 2008 4:32PM
testing the password/returning thing... finally, lol.

I don't care so much about the ISO. I would like to know more about the screenshot- and how it is displaying the iso in that box? is that special for Vista, or is it a downloadable add-on?

the guy simply zoomed in on that area for a better view (edited)

What are Win7 minimum requirements for hardware?
Brent SchmidtDec 28th 2008 11:37PM
Basically, if you can run Vista, you can run 7... seriously, I don't think there are many differences in (whatever) requirements there are.
Just found this though...
Windows se7en pc req's:
For the Basic Windows 7
* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
* 512 MB of system memory
* 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics and 32 MB of graphics memory
* DVD-ROM drive
* Audio Output
* Internet access (fees may apply)...
...and for the Premium Windows 7
* 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
* 1 GB of system memory
* 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
* Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
o WDDM Driver
o 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
o Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
o 32 bits per pixel
* DVD-ROM drive
* Audio Output
* Internet access (fees may apply)
Looks like the RAM is actually less than Vista, lol...

I installed Windows 7 on a Compaq S3200NX with ATi Radeon x1550 card.
I added the extra 256MB RAM from my other computer and used it to install it. Then, I took it out after it was done.
With 256MB of RAM, Windows 7 is pretty responsive and fast..
Windows ME : Windows Vista
Windows 2000 : Windows 7
