Mozilla retires Firefox 2
As expected, Mozilla has pulled the plug on Firefox 2. There will be no more security updates, and no more support for the web browser. When users download and install the latest update for Firefox 2, they're greeted with a message suggesting they upgrade to Firefox 3 which is generally both faster and more secure than Firefox 2.
Of course, some people don't like the way Firefox 3 handles bookmarks or tabs, which could make them reluctant to upgrade. But I'd recommend upgrading for the security enhancements alone. You can always search for Firefox add-ons that enhance the bookmark manager or tab positions.

I was an early adopter of FF3 and HATED it. After letting some updates come down, I tried again a couple of months ago and I love it now.
All of your add-ons from FF2 should work now with FF3. If not then you should consider switching to something new and different. There isn't an old Add On that I've seen that hasn't been 'replaced' by a new version/copy.
Let me suggest a few add-ons, if you REALLY can't live without FF2:
First off, there is a theme called "winstripe" (I think) that simulates the look and feel of FF2.
Then try these add-ons:
Tab Mix Plus
Foxmarks
Toolbar Buttons
And I know that there is an Add On that turns off the "Smartbar" or whatever that thing is called. I tried it but went back to the FF3 default.
Try websites like http://lifehacker.com/ for hints and tips (as well as places to rant and rave)
Peace

as we can see in the threads here people are reluctant in change. This is the trend as usual for anything popular - same occurs for WinXP v/s Vista.
As per the fact that ff2 is retired with no support after ??? 5yrs ?? this seems however not to be an issue in anyone one's mind - most vendors of software does that.. but when it comes to Microsoft the reactions tend to be more passionate even violent of the arrogance of the guys at Redmond.
Reality - Evolution in Technology is a need for at least one reason : Security.
should it be Linux, Vista, OSX - should it be Opera, IE, Mozilla - those have evolved mainly because of security - but not everyone is ready to "upgrade" for the same UI, features with more security - we all want the tities and bells and flowers that makes it "nicer" - even if we want to criticize .. well that's not constructive isn't it ?
