Thunderbird 3 Beta 1 open source email client released
More than half a year since the folks at Mozilla Messaging released the first alpha version of Thunderbird, the team has released Thunderbird 3 Beta 1. The latest release features a bunch of bug fixes and some new features, including:
Thunderbird 3 Beta 1 is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
- A tabbed interface for mail
- Integration with Windows Vista Search
- Integration with the Mac OS X Address Book
- IMAP improvements for faster message viewing

I wish they would let you view embedded vids in thunderbird then i wouldn't need to use firefox anymore!

You can, bart. There is a pref for it in about:config. A new beta for ThunderBrowse that's due out soon will allow you to watch sites like youtube in Thunderbird.

And STILL no way to setup a CLEAN gmail integration I assume. I know it can be done with this add-on and that tweak, but not everyone has the time or knowledge for that.

Wow, so far I'm loving the improved IMAP speed! I kind of wish I could open separate email accounts in separate tabs though...
