New Digsby installer loaded with bloat and adverts

First off, you don't even download the actual installer from Digsby.com anymore - it's a downloader application. While I'm not a fan of downloaders in general, this one in particular got me all riled up.
Apart from half a dozen crapware install offers, the final screen before anything actually happened asked to change my homepage and switch my default search provider to Yahoo. I'm all for supporting an app, but this was more than I'm willing to tolerate from an installer.
Are you kidding me? Digsby, tell me you're kidding. Looks like it's time for me to give Pidgin another try.
Update: interesting new comment from user Aaron.
If you think this is bad, you should check out their new 'help digsby do research' option that's buried in their menu structure and ENABLED BY DEFAULT. This allows your computer to join a computational botnet that does commercial work that the Digsby team gets paid for (think folding@home for money). Notice your laptop fan whirring away unexpectedly? You're probably doing protein analysis for some drug company. Totally shady. I'm dropping Digsby like a hot potato, I've lost all trust in the developers if they somehow think this is 'okay'.
What about you? Are you willing to put up with skipping over the crapware so that you can still install the latest version of Digsby? Sound off!

Digsby has already proven itself untrustworthy with the way it stores your account information on it's own server and no way to disable that 'feature'. That feature's been in since the beginning and is the main reason I do not use Digsby. This adds more fuel to the fire against it though. Good news to hear in my book anyways. Albeit doubtful, hopefully enough backlash will be generated that Digsby will actually start listening to feature requests (like the ability to turn off the storing of your account information, or needing a digsby account in the first place.)
Is it still as huge a resource hog? I haven't run it again simply cause there's no news of the account feature being removed. Just doesn't seem like there's much a case in point in favor of Digsby.

Digsby is down today...
This was the last straw. The installer change was a big disappointment... insulting even.
Now reading about the distributed computing -- if it's true -- I am going to be uninstalling it.
Being completely offline for a full work day is unacceptable. The lack of decent plugins kinda sucks, and I've been getting more and more spam IM's lately too.
Back to Pidgin I go...

What a bunch of whiners. I not only agree that there is no harm in this, but the complaints follow the theme of anti-capitalism.
It figures why we're in a recession with all of this whining about steps you have to take in order to opt-out of offers from a FREE program.
How much did Digsby cost you? Do you really think that you are so worthy that you deserve free software because it is somehow you're right?
Or is it that you are so lazy that the effort of using your click button to opt-out of the offers exhausts you to the point of fainting?
I have no problem with complaints and declarations of heresy. But determining the worth of a FREE program by how much offers you have to skip through demonstrates ignorance.
Value the program for its features, and include the fact that its attempt to create a business for a great service should be applauded...not condemned.

And what do you think about the buried option for distributed computing? That's ok with you too?
