PETA mashes up Cooking Mama and Stephen King for gruesome holiday fun
'Tis the season to go on a murderous rampage, according to PETA. Once again proving hostile to cavemen but friendly to animals, PETA has re-created Cooking Mama in a Flash version (downloadable on Macs and PC's through the magic of Adobe AIR). Unlike the soothing "Better than Mama!" you're used to on the Wii, this Mama is more akin to Sweeney Todd. PETA is calling their creation, "Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals." I think I just heard the Lawyermobile at Majesco pulling out of the garage.
Killing turkeys, ripping out their guts and stuffing them with Atkins-unfriendly carbs is the name of this game. PETA tries to drive home the point that cleaning and cooking a turkey is a messy, horrible affair. Unfortunately, I had too much fun with the cartoonish game to truly grasp the horror of the situation. Luckily, after two rounds -- and regardless of whether you "win" -- you're treated to a "bonus" video describing and illustrating the sad lives commercially-raised turkeys are forced to endure. It ain't pretty.
Still, I give the idea two big thumbs-up for creativity; PETA has always been a creative bunch. But I doubt the Southern gents I know would be dissuaded in the least by this game. It's tricky to preach through videogames, and trickier still to illustrate terror when making something so cute and fun. All the same, I look forward to "Hello Kitty: Shelter Edition" if they ever pick up the idea.
Check out the screenshots... if you dare. Oh, and if you check out the game I recommend you turn your speakers down. There's some screaming and loud music involved. Enjoy!

Sorry but I'm not giving this wacko cult any clicks; they're just a notch below terrorists but just as insane. I will be enjoying the tasty cooked flesh of a slaughtered turkey bird in their honor later this month though.

Yeah... look who sounds like the wacko terrorist.

Yeah, PETA does. Mark sounds funny.

Always tasteful, those PETA folks.

I suddenly crave turkey.

I don't understand what you expect from Peta. They have to get to us somehow. Video games happen to be very popular and so they used that to their advantage. They don't have the money the meat industry does so they can't corrupt the government and pay them to put out these laws like how the meat industry pays them to not put them out. Honestly, meat is disgusting. I would recommend you all check out the rest of their site.

No..Meat is tasty

I would suggest you do some research into PETA's record, including euthanizing upwards of 80% of the animals they were supposed to find homes for (when the Humane Society does much, much better) and in one instance, breaking into an animal pound, stealing all the animals, killing them and dumping them off a cliff, because that was apparently better than being 'imprisoned'. (These were animals that were to be adopted by people).
They're wacko nutjobs, and there are far better organizations you can give your money and support to.

PETA are a bunch of animal killing nutjobs. Do a little research on them before you go defending them. They are scum.

I wonder if they will make a "Cooking Mama Makes Ice Cream" version?
MarlonNov 19th 2008 3:44AM
I always wonder if Peta is aware that animals EAT other animals, often in horrible grotesque and bloody ways.
BananaBoatNov 19th 2008 6:57AM
Didn't take long for a card carrying member to appear eh?
No doubt about it though, cooking a turkey is disgusting. Blood spews out, then you have to remove innards that will make you want to puke.
That's why we let women do it while we watch the game! Right men?
Then the day after...cold turkey sandwiches...snow if you are lucky. Aaaah it's the life.

i see this as a funny gross parody. but i wonder if peta is aware of (or cares) about the fact that they have directly violated nintendo's trademark by using the name "cooking mama". (perhaps they should have named it "killing mama".) i predict this will be shut down by nintendo soon.
scottyNov 19th 2008 7:03AM
correction: cooking mama is published by majesco. and peta even put the majesco logo on one of the game screens!
this so totally violates majesco's trademark and could make some people believe this is an official cooking mama game. (yes, i wonder if this is peta's intent.) this goes beyond parody laws.

I played it. I was fun to rip the guts out of the turkey and chop its head off. Thanks PETA. I think I am going to hunt and kill my own turkey this year instead of buying it at the store.

"There's a place for all of God's animals...right next to the mashed potatos and gravy."

LOL

Animals have the right to be tasty.
I'm going to celebrate by having a delicious turkey sandwich.

PETA is insane.
Just ignore them.

I found the game both fun and enjoyable. My goal is to get the high score. Am I missing something?
