The Ten Blogging Commandments: Thou shalt not linkbait
At a conference held in Great Britain titled simply "Godblogs", the commandments were put together and then apparently "engraved on cyberspace tablets", whatever that means.
Each of the commandments takes its inspiration from the real ten commandments:
- You shall not put your blog before your integrity
- You shall not make an idol of your blog
- You shall not misuse your screen name by using your anonymity to sin
- Remember the Sabbath day by taking one day off a week from your blog
- Honour your fellow-bloggers above yourselves and do not give undue significance to their mistakes
- You shall not murder someone else's honour, reputation or feelings
- You shall not use the web to commit or permit adultery in your mind
- You shall not steal another person's content
- You shall not give false testimony against your fellow-blogger
- You shall not covet your neighbour's blog ranking. Be content with your own content

My thoughts? Like most things coming out of any religious body, pure garbage.
At least this is irrelevant and superficial too. The real commandments scare me a lot more.

What the hell does #7 have to do with blogging?! They seriously tried way too hard to make them seem like a newer version of the original commandments...
... silly religious people

some are good, most are just grasping to be like the ten commandments...boring.

Wow! Methinks y'all need to get a grip and put down the energy drinks. See, it's a joke. As a real born-again Christian, I get it because not everything we do or say is "pure garbage". Nor is it "silly".
Sometimes, it's just meant to be funny. Kind of like when you see someone in the mall with a dryer sheet hanging out of their butt. Or a guy in the grocery getting Tucks and a burrito.
Relax.

We'll as a qualified Christian Minister (who resigned), I have to say ... yet another proof that most ministers these days don't have a clue what historical Christianity was all about - or they wouldn't have the time for rubbish like this.

Woah!
These 10 commandments were designed primarily for those Christians actively involved in blogging and were in any case meant as a bit of fun that nonetheless encapsulates the essence of what it would mean to sin in a digital sense.
I find it hard to comprehend the displeasure noted here that Christians should "gasp" try to do something fun or relevant in any way. Come on people, try READING them for what they are and see what they SAY rather than simply retreating behind the barricade of "silly religious people".
@Daniel #7 - perhaps Matthew 5:27-28 ?
Anyhow like rachris2 said put down the energy drinks and chill people. You'll be standing outside our blogs with burning torches and pitchforks before long.! :P
Of course, all IMHO .....

I find it a cute little parody on Christianity. However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't follow them. I am unlike most atheists in that I believe church, while mostly full of crap, is still very important in teaching good morals and behaviors that we all should follow.

Good list I wish "Thou Shalt Not Post First" was on the list but most of everything in there outranked it or in some sort of way included it in there...

Thou shalt not use pictures from Flickr without asking permission and giving credits first.
Thou shalt not use the word "W00t" unless there is a reference to a wootoff.
Thou shalt not attempt to speak in "l33t" unless thou can demonstrate said "l33t"ness.
Thou shalt not forbid your content be translated, giveth the proper credit to the original piece.
Thou shalt not mix your religious points of view when asketh about "general guiding lines", like "parlay".
Dvorak is God, despite He sometimes is mistaken.

Not condemming anyone but in the spirit of just possibley explaining why a true Christian is repulsed by any use of God"s Holy word is wronge and since most of us Christians believe that the ten commandments is indeed the true word of God we also believe that mocking His commandments is blasphemy and a grave sin against our magnificent God and Savior. Use some other format please and by the way it was not that clever anyway.
