VirtualBox 2.0 released
For example, if you're a Linux user but you occasionally want to run a Windows application that doesn't perform well under WINE, you can load up VirtualBox and run Windows (assuming you have a valid license key).
The latest update brings improved performance for machines with AMD processors and support for 64 bit guest operating systems as long as your host OS is also 64 bit, and support for VHD disk images created using Microsoft Virtual PC. VirtualDisk 2.0 also adds support for the Ubuntu 8.10 and Fedora 9 Linux distributions. You can find a complete list of bug fixes and updates in the release notes.

version 2.0.2 was released on the 12th of September

Version 2.0 was released on 9/04 and version 2.0.2 was released on 9/12. Since we hadn't covered either yet, and since they're both technically 2.0 releases, I decided to group them together in a single post. The support for the latest versions of Ubuntu and Fedora are part of the 2.0.2 update. Most of the other features I listed came with 2.0.

How is this different than any of the other virtualization progs out there? Is there something that makes this worthy of reporting on your site?

It's free and it's open source. Also, it work's perfectly. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be reported on DLS. After all, it's a download...

As a novice to Ubuntu, I found Virtualbox super easy to use compared to the other virtualization programs. It has great documentation. I was able to read through the documentation and have Virtualbox up and running with Windows XP in less then 2 hours.
I have been using it for about 3 months now with no problems.

i was a vbox user, i dont have a problem with propreitary software like other linux people so i used the one with usb and everything. and i love it, i used it for about 8-9 months, then i found out about the vmware 6.5 beta program, i got a free version of vmware and it has 3d acceleration(admittedly, its crap for games but it lets me use my usb tv tuner alot easier than the native linux way. which i couldnt do with out dx9 drivers btw) since then thats been my vm of choice, ive pirated the new versions of it in the past when ever they came out ((shhhh)) but i would always delete it right away cause they wouldnt be as good as the free vm software, but now im sticking with vmware and a surprising thing, im acctually ganna buy a license when it comes out which is surprising for me. idk if you can still sign up for the vmware 6.5 beta, but if you can, do it. its awesome. just my 1/50 of a dollar

with the support for MS VPC images you can now use XP and Vista for free in VBox.
just get the "Internet Explorer Application Compatibility VPC Image" of your choice. these are VPC Hard Disk Image for testing websites with different IE versions on Windows XP SP2, Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista. the current images activated until January 2009
