Great write up :-) Very detailed and informative - can't wait to try this new release out. Out of curiosity, what are you using to make your screencasts?

Hey, thanks... (and I want to say... It's great to be back from our blogging hiatus!)
I used RecordMyDesktop with a qt frontend for the screen capture (qtRecordMyDesktop). I set the frame rate at about 35, I believe... And I don't know if it's something about OpenSUSE, or KDE4's use of available memory, or some change in RecordMyDesktop... but I have NEVER had ANY video capture software (Windows or Linux) behave as nicely as that did. I was nervous about doing this whole deal, as a lot is so much easier to show with video, but screen captures can be so system intensive. It worked really impressively.
Used ffmpeg to convert the file (actually going to talk about that more in next week's Linux Switch post) and with a little bit of sweet talking, it ended up looking almost as good as the original .ogv when uploaded to Vimeo.
