This is coolbut eventually may be unnecessary as one of the future features of Indenti.ca is to incorporate the twitter api so that posts to twitter or identi.ca are automatically cross posted to the other (http://identi.ca/doc/faq).

Twhirl is definitely keeping ahead of the pack.
