Windows XP goes bye bye
July 1 will go down in history as the day that major PC manufactures can no longer sell Windows XP preinstalled. This news hasn't gone unnoticed; InfoWorld created a petition to save the aging OS.
The question is why?
Truth of the matter is that there are millions of reasons why one would want to stay with XP just like there are good reasons to upgrade to Vista. Each of them have their merits and it would be pointless to try to disprove any one of them.
But what's going to happen when its time to get another computer and the only option is Vista? Is the lack of an XP option enough to sway you to Ubuntu or OS X? According to Microsoft sales of Vista have reached 140 million copies world wide so it doesn't appear that most computer buyers mind upgrading to Vista.
But for those die hard XP users out there what are you going to do? The Grim Reaper has come for your OS.

Microsoft may go on about selling 140 million copies of Vista, but how many of those were pre-installed on new machines (each machine sold with Vista as the OS would count as a sale) and how many were actually asked for?
Then we would get a more realistic figure.

I have a few XP Pro disks from some builds I made earlier. I have been running vista for a year now and I haven't had a single problem with it, everything just seems to work. Its been running on a P4 2.8ghz (non HT), 2GB of RAM and a Nvidia 7600 (if I recall correctly), and on my laptop an acer 5720z.

Yeah. Or you could just use tinyXP with DSL, Acronics Backup+Restore, Hiren's Boot CD 9.5 and several other tools. Or yeah, you could go linux. But I would stick with Fedora, I use Vista, XP, Ubuntu, and Fedora. I have played with Ubuntu and Fedora for a while. I spent an equal amout of time with each, but Fedora 9 is by far my favorite.
But if you want TinyXP because you can't find a license for XP, let me know by emailing me at s1ymshady-webblogs@yahoo.com. I will send you the link, and if you want, I will send you an invite to demonoid.com. Its one of the best torrent sites around. And the only way to get in, is to be let in. And I have 4 invites left. Any takers on Demonoid, and TinyXP Rev 09? Oh, if you don't know what TinyXP is, GOOGLE IT
