Vreel to launch Stage6 replacement soon, launches silly video now
The How To Geek, on the other hand, has a more in-depth look at the new service and an interview with the site's founder. The new site uses the DivX Web Player and a decent looking site navigation. One nice feature is a pop-out button that lets you watch videos in a separate browser window.
Vreel is currently in private beta and accepting beta testers, with a full launch to follow once a few bugs have been worked out, including problems with files uploaded that don't have a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio.

This video wasn't made by a Vreel staff member - this was made by forum member and beta tester 'Jonboy1' :)

There's actually a lot of viable Stage6 clones around. I'm not sure why everyone focuses on Vreel just because it has funding.
For example, the ones mentioned above.
The most mature one that I've seen (one that actually might stand up to other sites) is Stagevu:

Check it out.

that's funny, taking this much time, since like harry said, there are plenty of stage6 clones out there, like http://www.stage-next.com/ ... silly vreel

I’ve been fascinated with the development of Vreel. Initially, I couldn’t decide between it being an elaborate hoax or that the people behind it were out of their depth. I’m now persuaded that this is a genuine attempt to develop a high quality online video streaming site but that the brains behind it are really out on a limb here. Anyhow, there’s really a great story behind Vreel and it’s not finished yet....

Vreel is a front company for Zango.
Please beaware that Zango is a nasty malware company, and do not be fooled into switching off your anti-virus to install it.
Also as an ex member of Vreel, I have noticed that my comments in the Vreel forum after my PC was infected by a trojan, were edited by Vreel/Zango staff.
Trust Kaspersky or trust Zango/Vreel it's your choice, I made mine.
