SourceForge implements OpenID
It's official - SourceForge.net has joined the OpenID bandwagon. SourceForge, the world's largest open source software development website, is a little late to the party but nonetheless, it's nice to see a leader of the open source community adopting OpenID and walking the walk.
OpenID is an open source, decentralized, digital identity user system which allows users to have one identity across the internet and alleviates the hassle of having multiple user names and passwords to log-in to different sites.
OpenID is gaining traction with big companies such as AOL, Sun, Microsoft, and Novell who are accepting and providing OpenIDs. Today it is estimated that there are over 160-million OpenID enabled URIs with nearly ten-thousand sites supporting OpenID logins.
Thanks FF!

"...with nearly ten-thousand sites supporting OpenID logins."
Sadly, and with mild irony, DLS isn't one of them. DLS is owned by AOL, and AOL is an Open ID provisioner:

Hey Todd,
Just because we're owned by AOL doesn't mean we can magically implement OpenID on our CMS platform (notice the graphic that says "Powered by Blogsmith")
I'm not sure how much programming, database or server experience you have, but implementing OpenID isn't like flipping a switch.
So just because we don't currently have OpenID support doesn't mean we aren't going to implement it in the future.

Whoa! Victor! just cool down!
I am sure Todd was just teasing...
I do have to admit, though, that Open Id would have been nice at DLS (and all the weblog family)
Just saying that you should give a gentle "nudge""nudge""wink""wink" to Blogsmith to also implement the system, maybe if more of their clients asked them, they just might do it by Christmas ;-)
Enjoy!

OpenID is a siren's song:

Pay attention to "Level 2" -
"When a user enters her identity we'll download her login form from her OpenID provider, modify it, display it to the user, and wait for the user to enter her password."
It also dispels myths that things like "Personal Icons" (*DEMONSTRATED* as broken by "Level 2") or "Client Certificates" could solve the problem.
