It's been about a day since Microsoft officially released Windows Vista SP1. And after uninstalling the SP1 release candidate and running Windows Update a few dozen times, we've finally got it up and running on our test system. The good news is that our test PC does seem to be a bit more stable. The bad news, well, not really bad, but other news is that as we knew all along there aren't any real new bells and whistles in this release, which means that SP1 is kind of unsexy as far as service packs go.
But enough about us. What we really want to know is what your experiences with Vista SP1 have been like.

IE still has problems. Messages of slow running or just not running until I reboot. Video does not wok in some cases. As usual response from MS is useless Mumble. Maybe time to try FireFox. I still like Vista even as imature as it is. I'll give it time.

You actually use IE?? Do yourself and the entire Web a big favor and download Firefox. Now.

I installed it overnight and my computer said it installed successfully, but it wouldn't boot into Windows. I'm going to run System Restore and try again. Up to this point, I've been happy with Vista Home Premium, other than its being slower to boot than XP.

System Restore didn't work. I can't boot into Vista at all. Good thing I have Fedora on the computer. Any suggestions?

Weird, in my windows experience test now I have 0.5 in graphics :P.
I notice my computer sightly faster in terms of moving through different windows and programs, but I see that it takes sightly a bit more RAM according to the Ram and Performance monitor. Like 5% of my 2 Gigs
So far I can't complain.
btw took me about 2 hours to download the SP1 and Install it, gotta love Free download manager xP.

Due to Microsoft's stupid issuing policies, I cannot try out SP1 yet, as much as I would like to. Has anyone of you, the privileged minority of Vista users in English-speaking countries, ever thought about the frequent unfair discrimination of all other users in the rest of the world? I happen to live in the Netherlands, and for my Dutch-language version of Vista, SP1 is simply not available yet and it's not expected to arrive within a few weeks, either. Now if you say I'm just showing envy, you may be right...

Are you kidding?... I'm from Argentina and I have Windows in Another language and I could install it just from the first day.
There was a language selection link in the download SP1 section.
HenkagainMar 25th 2008 9:28AM
For most people worldwide, SP1 is not available yet. Really! The only languages currently supported are English, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. See the information, dated March 18th, on the Microsoft SP1 download page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B0C7136D-5EBB-413B-89C9-CB3D06D12674&displaylang=en

I spent most of this morning tracking down why I suddenly could see some computers but none of their files. SP1 seems to have mucked with local network settings. I ended up uninstalling the NIC's from device manager on all three of my machines, rebooting twice, and enabling file sharing to get them all on talking terms again.

SP1 made my Vista Ultimate worse. More "your program" has stopped working. BS. I run a computer repair business where I see dozens of screwed up Vista machine each month. Viruses, spyware, everything seen on XP. After a year of use I see not one thing useful in Vista. Nothing! It's a highly marketed piece of crap. It simply does not work as advertised. I like my iMac better.
