Windows Mobile to support Flash
iPhone, eat your heart out.According to early news reports Monday, Microsoft has licensed Adobe Flash Lite for Windows Mobile devices. Essentially, Flash Lite will become a plug-in for Pocket IE, so that users can view embedded Flash content on their Windows Mobile devices. Adobe claims that up to 80% of Flash pages will work using the Flash Lite plugin and Pocket IE.
This also means that future Windows Mobile devices will support both Flash and Silverlight.
Flash, Silverlight: it's starting to sound like a group of superheroes around here.
Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn't yet said when it plans to support Adobe Flash Lite on Windows Mobile devices, and it hasn't given out any dates regarding support for Silverlight either. But at least they stuck their neck out and said that they would support it; which means, eventually, they'll have to deliver on that promise.

I agree, that line made me chuckle.

Well it's about fucking time, Microsoft.

Yeah. I wonder what 'fucking time' it will take for Apple to finally release Flash on the iPhone. Something they should have done on the get go.

Future conversation between me and any friend with an iPhone. "Dude, you've got to see [name of whatever is the latest popular Flash-based web app]. Here's the URL... What, it's not loading? Oh, right, I forgot, your iPhone doesn't support Flash! That sucks. It seems to work on my $99 T-Mobile Dash just fine...."

via Techspot :
"According to Jobs, the full-blown PC version of Flash performs too slowly to be useful on the iPhone while the mobile version, Flash Lite, is too limited to be used with the web."
At least IHHO...
WM6 FTW!!

Current Conversation with WinMo friends:
Hey check out ! What? It takes forever to load and doesn't even display properly? And you only have pre-set levels of zoom and it takes 3 clicks to do that?
Oh, that's right, you're using IE on Windows Mobile...

This looks promising, i hope it won't turn out to be just one of the many Microsoft stunts that turned into a joke in the end.

I'm really confused -- I could have sworn I had some version or other of Flash on my WinMo 6 HTC Hermes. Am I remembering wrong? Or is this something different they're announcing?
JamesMar 28th 2008 11:37AM
OK, am not crazy:

Dates back to May 2006 according to Archive.org. Is the new announcement for something different?
