Is this web site down for everyone or is it just you?
Down for everyone or just me does one thing, and it does it well. Type a URL into the site, and you'll find out if the whole world is seeing what you're seeing. Easy as pie. You know, eating it, not making it. There's no info on the site explaining exactly how it checks to see if a site is up, but the results appear to be at least as accurate as emailing your friend and asking for a second opinion.
Now, we're big fans in giving products and services a descriptive name. And Down for everyone or just me certainly does that. But if you have any use for this service at all, we suggest you bookmark the site, because seriously, who's going to remember a URL like downforeveryoneorjustme.com?

The first thing I did was put in their own URL. I got a funny response:

I just tried YouTube and it said it was down but I went onto YouTube and it's working fine so this service is broke already or just not made properly.

I tried digg.com and it said it's down (yesterday and today) but it's been working fine. I also tried www.digg.com and got the same results. Guess they need to tweak the site.

Hmm, maybe it's just me (obviously from all the other posts it's not) but checking www.cms.hhs.gov (http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/www.cms.hhs.gov) shows it down when it's not.

Hi,
I ran the program on my own site http://www.onime.com, which I haven't been able to access from my home computer as of Friday 14 March, and it reported back "it's just you". This may well be the case as I was able to access the site from work. At home I can't however even access the site of the host, iPowerweb, let alone my control panel. No problem at work.
Is there a virus on my computer or what?
How to fix it?

I can see your site just fine. Cute cat. First thing I would think about doing is switching from iPower to another web host. I had nothing but problems with them, and found that it typically took several days to get a response whenever I sent an email to tech support.

Thanks for the comment. I totally agree: they are a pain in almost every respect. Replies take ages and so on...
But is it their fault if I suddenly can't connect from my home computer? I mean, obviously the site is not down, so is there something I should do regarding my own connection to regain access to my site and iPower, too?

come on everybody... it wasn't that hard to figure out how this service works. Just type in the url name of the website you're looking for, without www. or http://.
So for example, to see if www.youtube.com is up, simply type "youtube" into the search box, NOT "www.youtube.com". Or, not test www.comcast.net just type "comcast.net"

Thanks for putting us on the right track. This looks useful once I understood not to put html:\\ in the query. In all fairness, that really should be documented on the page. It's not unreasonable behavior on the part of the user to include the protocol.
FYI: If you leave off the top level domain, the page assumes that it should be .com. Just something to be aware of.

There is a similar utility on Computer hope called: Is it up, that not only checks the domain, URL, or IP but also pings and lists response time. Page is at: http://www.computerhope.com/cgi-bin/isitup.cgi
