Add color, tabs, and copy/paste to the Windows console
If the stark black screen and white text of the Windows command console doesn't do it for you, you might want to check out Color Console. It's a free application that has all the features you'd expect from a basic Windows command prompt, and then some. For example, you can change your color scheme to yellow, orange, blue, or "matrix," which is a custom black and green skin.
While the color feature is nice, Color Console also has a few tricks that are a bit more functional. For example you can open up multiple console windows in a tabbed interface. And you can easily copy text from the console and paste it into any Windows application. There's even a beta print feature that will let you print the contents of a console window in full color.

I prefer the program "Console". It's free and open-source!

Haven't tried this particular app so I can't compare them, but I reiterate Brian's recomendation for "Console" - it's a great replacement to the Windows console shell.

i prefer just typing color 0a.

I've been looking for a good console replacement after switching back from Linux. The Windows console is completely pathetic (no easy copy-paste, no saved history, no scrolling from the keyboard etc.). How close are they to porting Konsole?

Komodo, you're a moron dude. I originally thought this post was about a replacement for windows' cmd.exe. Turns out this story is about something else, but I still found what I was looking for, because of Brian's Console recommendation. Waste of time for you maybe, but I got what I needed, douchy.

Does anyone know of any of these cmd add-ons/replacements that allows you to log a full session to a text file, similar to what you can do in putty sessions?
