AltTab Mouse Shortcut lets you toggle programs without a keyboard
CyberNet's Ryan Wagner has put together a nifty little application that lets you use the Windows Alt+Tab program switcher utility without actually hitting Alt+Tab on your keyboard. AltTab Mouse Shortcut is a tiny executable file that hangs out in your system tray. When it's running all you have to do is hold down the left button on your mouse while you click the right button to bring up your program switcher.
Right now the utility only works correctly with Windows Vista. A CyberNet reader did try to whip up a Windows XP version, but it doesn't work that well at the moment. Instead of bringing up the Alt+Tab window, the XP mouse shortcut just toggles back and forth between two open windows. Hopefully Ryan will offer an updated XP version soon, or if any Download Squad readers feel up to the task, the code looks pretty simple.

The QuickLinks toolbar has a button for Flip 3D (the Rolodex effect - Win+Tab). If a computer can't support the 3D effect, you get the equivalent of Flip (Alt+Tab). peace, mjh

TAskSwitchXP is not quite as elegant a solution for simply switching windows (need to click the sytem tray icon and then select the window required with your mouse) but it does offer so much more.
