HDRwalls: stunning wallpaper for your computer or portable
HDRwalls offers a welcome change from hum-drum single color desktop backgrounds or the limited selection of built-in OS wallpapers. They currently have about 500 High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos in resolutions ranging from 800x600 to 1920x1200. They also provide sizes for iPod Touch, PSP, Blackberry, and iPhone.HDR photography is the result of increasing the dynamic range of a photo through tone mapping and combining multiple exposures. The HDR group on Flickr has great examples and offers tips to create your own HDR images (and maybe even use them as desktop backgrounds).

Speaking as an "old school" film photographer who stank of fixer for years, I think HDR is ugly.
It creates very unnatural looking images that clearly would never appear like that in the real world. When you look at an HDR image you can immediately tell something doesn't look quite right about them.

It's called art.

I'd rather call it "kitsch" :p

I switch out my wallpaper every few weeks to keep things different. So I tend to run low on new ones, especially since I have two monitors.. Thanks for this site!

I'm also old school-ish, but I love the HDR stuff. It reeks of hyper-reality. The cityscapes at night especially. You get Blade Runner vibes looking at some of them.

WOW, within minutes of this post the site has already maxed out its CPU quota.
How come that never happens to my site?

I agree that a lot of HDR stuff looks horrible, but certain types of photos can look pretty spectacular. Unfortunately I won't be able to check this particular set out since we seem to have killed the site! :)

Yeah, the wallpapers to me looks awesome, what is killing em is the compression artifacts T_T But those cityscapes are the type of wallpapers I've been looking for.

This HDR wallpaper from interfacelift has been my wallpaper for about 2 weeks, and that is saying a lot. I am a wallpaper junkie and change it constantly. I posted my desktop screenshot in a thread on a forum I frequent and tons of people wanted to know where I had gotten the pic. It almost looks 3 d on your desktop.
