Welcome to Googleholic - your bi-weekly fix of everything Google!

This edition covers:

  • See GoogleReader stats for any site with an RSS feed
  • View recent edits to Google Maps
  • Urchin 6 beta now open to the public
  • Windows Mobile IMAP support improved for GMail
  • An overview of the other Google stories we've covered this week

See GoogleReader stats for any site with an RSS feed

Curious about how many Google subscribers a given site has? Well there is a Firefox extension that can accomplish just that. Google Reader Subscribers count is a Greasemonkey script (meaning it was made for Firefox, but could theoretically work in other browsers too) that inserts an overly of a Google subscriber count on any page offering RSS. Clicking on the number allows you to subscribe to a feed. [via Google Operating System]

View recent edits to Google Maps

Now that Google has introduced the ability to edit information appearing on GoogleMaps, they have also released a way to track recent updates. Simply go here and you can see what recent edits have been made with he location correction feature. They have also made periodic update data available for users who want to build their own program or script. [via Googlefied]

Urchin 6 beta now open to the public

The Google Analytics blog reports that the beta for Urchin 6, the software that serves as the model for Google Analytics (the difference is that Urchin is run and managed on your own web server and can provide more accurate geogracking data and statistics, especially for sites behind firewalls) is now available for download. The beta includes a 90 day trial license and will be available for purchase after the software is out of beta. Urchin is expensive ($3000 a license) but a good solution for maintainers of large sites or intranets that want accurate analytical information.

Windows Mobile IMAP support improved for GMail.

Google has worked with Microsoft to fix bugs that were plaguing the IMAP/Windows Mobile experience. If you had problems with GMail IMAP access on a Windows Mobile client in the past, you might want to try again now that the code has been optimized. New users wanting to configure their devices for IMPA, can go here for information.

And here are some other stories we've been following this week:

  • Google Finance launches in the UK - Following in the footsteps of the Google Finance blogs in the US and Canada, Google has launched a blog following localized financial information for the United Kingdom.
  • Enhance Google Reader with the Better GReader Firefox add-on - Lifehacker has added to their Better G-series with the Better GReader add-on for Firefox. If you use Firefox and GoogleReader together, you definitely want to try this out.
  • gDocsBar: Firefox sidebar to manage your Google Documents - gDocsBar is a Firefox sidebar that allows always-on access to your Google Docs. Not only can you use the sidebar to search and filter your documents, you can also upload docs by dragging files to the sidebar. If you use Google Docs and Firefox, this is a must-have utility.
