Waaaaaaait a second. I thought this fantastic new upcoming feature was supposed to let me choose what boxes will be shown and hidden on other people's profiles. How often do people look at their own profiles, as compared to their friends'? How many Facebook users are actually going to take the time to use this feature? For that matter, how many of them are even going to notice it's available, way down at the bottom there? I thought Facebook was doing something cool by allowing people to take control of the way they experience Facebook. Instead, they've rolled out a feature that is only marginally useful if everyone uses it, and which nobody is likely to use. Thanks, Facebook!

Scott,
Login to Facebook, and click on "Profile" to view your own profile. Then scroll all the way to the bottom of your profile and click "Edit Extended Profile."

If you want to change the look of other peoples profiles,
Each application on a profile has a title bar, on the left hand side of which is a little arrow, if you click on the arrow it hides the box, displaying only the title bar.
This persists across profiles, so if you hide an application on one profile it hides it on every profile that you look at, if you ever for some reason want to look at it again, just click the arrow again and it comes back!

Yes, that hides the boxes, Charlie, but their content still gets loaded, so it doesn't speed up load times at all, unfortunately.
