Google Docs adds new features
Google promises a feature-packed 2008 for Google Docs and we believe them. Not even a week into the new year, Google Docs has already implemented some new features. The most striking additions affect Google Presentations, the newest arm of Google Docs. Although we were impressed with Google Presentations when it debuted a few months ago, there was definitely room for improvement.What stuck out to us the most was Google Presentation's inability to export a presentation as a .PPT file. While you can't export presentations as a PPT file, you can now easily embed presentations into your blog or website.

I don't know why they chose to use a youtube style interface... It's hideous.

@Xell is talking about the fact that the embeded presentation looks a lot like YouTube's embedded video interface, not the fact that it can be embedded.
I don't have anything against the YouTube embedded interface (particularly the zoom-out at the end which gives you the embed code and the options), but it does make sense for Google (or anyone, for that matter) to have a uniform interface for all their embeds across services. The advantage with Google Docs embdedded presentations now is that it is instantly usable and untuitive to millions who have been using YouTube video embeds all over the web.

That's neat. I have a blog, and it would be neat to embed presentation slides rather than put a file link.
Wish PowerPoint could do that. Does anyone know of any good downloads to embed PowerPoint slides into web pages?

The whole point of Google Docs is to upload/import PowerPoint and then you can edit/export them.
As the example above shows, you can import a PPT and export it onto your blog!

Ok, but I was hoping more of a direct way (like a plug-in?) than having to go through the process of getting a Google account (yeah, I don't have one), go on the site, import, and than embed that onto my blog.
I was just looking for a more direct way, than going through a middleman.
But thanks for explaining.
