I enjoy reading articles supporting Ubuntu (or GNU in general) but then there comes the jabs at Microsoft. My opinion of an article is reduced the instant I see an insult (or a strategicly placed dollar sign) tossed at Microsoft. Ubuntu can compete against Windows on it's own without grade school insults.
BG: Vista is designed not to have complicated animations for the same reason Spinners, Airbag suspensions, and color shifting paint are not factory options on a Cadillac Escalade. Most people don't want them. Microsoft, bureaucratic as they are, probably spent millions of dollars in R&D to find that out, but in the end it is the correct decision.
David: FAT32 support, both read and write, has been around for a while in GNU. I believe distros predating Ubuntu included FAT32 support. NTFS (the five or so versions of it) is another story though. . perhaps you were thinking of that?
