Vixta: A Fedora Linux-based Windows Vista clone
Vixta could be the Linux distribution with the smallest possible target audience ever: Linux users who love the look and feel of Windows Vista and wished their Linux desktops could look more like Windows.
Vixta is a Fedora-based distro with a custom KDE-based interface. You get widgets, a Vista-like start menu and taskbar, and evil looks from your die-hard open-source buddies. Under the hood, there's no mistaking Vixta for Windows. If you're a Linux user, that's probably a good thing, but somehow we doubt Vixta will convince many Windows users to switch to Linux.
You can't run Windows apps without the help of WINE, and while the menu system may look like Windows, all the underlying programs are Linux equivalents. That means you get Konqueror instead of Explorer, OpenOffice instead of Office, and Firefox instead of, well, Firefox. OK, maybe switching isn't really that hard, but try telling that to your grandma.

Have any of you heard of WINE for Linux? Windows apps on Linux? A good amount of WIDELY USED programs built for Windows that will at least partially work with Linux? Games for Windows that will run on Linux? I don't think if I've said it enough to get through to the single-minded Vista users here.
BTW, if I wanted a Vista look I'd just use Ubuntu (or a good enough debian release, maybe SuSE...) install Beryl as I have on my current install of Linux and download a well built Vista skin.
Another BTW, michael, Linux doesn't pay you anything to talk for it. The users who talk for it say it because they actually mean it. Windows user and ESPECIALLY OS X users are abruptly swifted to talk for it because of how it "looks and feels", which is a horrible conception. I don't judge someone because of their skin colour so why should I judge something as well built when it's nothing but pretty colours and a bunch of run of the mill programs?

@ Travis
Xerox Parc created the Alto in 1973 and Apple blatantly stole the interface years later . Note the date because the Alto used a Gui, a mouse and even networking at that time. Francis Ford Coppola bought a bunch back that and all that had to be done was run network cables to each pc and poof, a network. Check this video from 1974. http://www.maniacworld.com/alto-computer-video.html

How much does Linux pay you to say that stuff?

Did you get paid to promote this?

I find all the Vista hate sooooo sad. If you don't like it, just don't use it. *sigh*
