Unofficial Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for PPC-6700/XV6700
Lest you should think Dell Axim users are having all the fun, an industrious hacker has crammed Windows Mobile 6 onto yet another device. If you're using a Sprint PPC-6700 or Verizon XV6700 (which are basically the same device), and don't mind voiding your warranty and possibly killing your machine, have we got news for you!
PPCGeeks forum member helmi_c has managed to get Windows Mobile 6 running on the 6700 series. And he's released ROMs for pretty much any carrier you might have, including Sprint, Alltel, Verizon, Sasktel, Vivo Brazil, Telus, Bell Mobility, Cricket, Cellular South, New Zealand, Midwest, Reliance India, and Qwest.
The ROM inlcudes a lot more than just a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade. Helmi_c has also loaded it with some software to make your phone a bit more usable, including MS OneNote Mobile, MS LiveSearch, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player 7, WM5 Storage, TCPMP, PimBackup, Yahoo Go! 2.0, and a suite of HTC applications:

I sure hope no one wastes their time on the Motorola Q and sticks to useful things. The Q was a big failure.

I love the WM6, but now when I receive Text messages, I don't get who they are from. When I reply it does not know who to go to. Anyone got an idea.

I really think I ruined my phone with this update, I'm not saying to not try because it seems to work for everyone else ,but does anybody know how i can fix it or does anyone know someone that can fix it. It's saying serial v 1.0 on the screen and won't do anything at all and I didn't get it activated yet so I have no insurance. So please if anyone can please help me.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE YOUR PHONE IN SERIAL MODE. U WIPED OUT YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM. TAKE IT TO SPRINT. THEY CAN FIX IT FOR FREE.

You can restore the factory defaults by entering the following: ##786#
At some point during the reset process, you will be asked for the "lock code". You need this. Don't start without it! Get the code from Sprint. If they ask why, tell them you dropped your phone, and it only works when powered externally. Good luck.

Dewayne, try hard resetting your phone, then after setting up your stylus, but before the carrier customizations run, do a soft reset and it should handle sms messages correctly. Incase you don't know how to do a hard reset you have to push in on the reset button once while holding both softkeys. A confirmation screen should appear asking you if you want to reset all data. Press Y to reset. You will loose everything not on your storage card so back up your data first.
