New version of Windows Vista SP1 in the wild
The previous version of Vista SP1 included a complete installation disc. There was no way to upgrade an existing Windows Vista installation. it appears that the latest build is a 684MB executable file that can be used to upgrade your existing system.
Of course, we probably don't have to remind you that this is pre-release beta software. On the one hand, it might be incredibly tempting to grab the update and install it as soon as possible to see if it addresses problem's you've been having with Windows Vista. On the other hand, Windows Vista itself offers a good demonstration on why you might want to let others test out new Microsoft software for a while before installing it on your computer.

Ah, just like XP.. took me two years to switch from win2k. Though, now that I've experienced Ubuntu, I'm unsure if I'll ever convert my XP system to Vista except to play Crysis or something... It's not like that won't ever come out on 360 though.

I've only had one problem with Vista, and that's with recording audio via my Creative sound card. I see no reason to piss on the OS. Most of the "problems" I've seen documented were "fixed" via a little tweak here and there that could be performed by any literate person with a 5th grade education.

As someone who has used Vista on his PC (built myself) since March I can say it needs some serious fixes/tweaks. Audio in general is a big problem, whether thats caused by the copy protection crap or whatever I don't know, but its basically unusable for any audio/video editing I've tried on it. The only thing it seems to do well is run games (well, games released in the last 5 or 6 years mostly, all my classic PC games don't run at all, not that I expected much else) and Media Center.
I also can't say enough how much I love it having to grey out my screen and ask for approval every time I want to do anything. :P

I too agree that the UAC in vista is annoying, but the way people go on about it is like it has never occured in another OS before. My Ubuntu partion does the same thing whenever i want to acess somewhere importatnt on the computer and whenever i use sudo (root) in the terminal it askes me for my password.
