Google's Orkut social network releasing a new design
Not a lot has been said lately about Google's social network Orkut. Every once a while there is a story or two about government officials trying to shut it down, or about how it's been lacking in development, but Google does have plans for it.
A new design is scheduled, and it looks very fresh. The Orkut design team hasn't stated when it will be completely rolled out, but they have said that randomly selected groups of users will start to see changes. Its about time things started moving at Orkut, Google has a potential (Facebook) goldmine with this, and they have really been letting it slide. Ok, so it's big in Latin America, but what about North America, Europe and the rest of the world?

yes, here in Brazil Orkut is the greatest social network. Everybody jumped in, cause we liked what it was and what we could do in it. No problem with the age: there's communities for everyone
why you in Europe and North America don't start using it and see how great it is?
you don't like the idea that it was discovered and massively adopted here first?
I don“t understand this kind of discrimination...
Why don't you use it? tell us!

frajaq - for some strange reason it just didn't catch on! thats business life i guess. what speaks to one countries population, might not speak to another's.

Orkut seems to be all Indian. It seems to consist of fake profiles created by Indian programmers, web designers, and graphics designers, on a contract basis. It is also possible that a lot of Orkut's content is created by, (or with the assistance of), Indian artificial intelligence chat bots.
