Google Sky
Forget about going to a planetarium, Google Earth has expanded its view and is starting to focus on the stars.
Sky in Google Earth has launched. This new addition to Earth enables viewers to check out different areas in the universe, from distant galaxies light years away, to constellations and planets. You must download the new version of Google Earth to get the features, then you're on your way to checking out planets in motions and supernova explosions.
This data was partly built with Google's NASA partnership and through the Hubble Space Telescope Observations.

I am a director of SKY-MAP.ORG. Go to www.sky-map.org and you will see that what Google has just announced already exists in web-based version for about a year. We have SDSS, IRAS, and H-Alpha surveys integrated in our system and we have 100s of millions of objects mapped. Only for HDF we have > 10.000 galaxies mapped. We also have articles related to hundreds of thousands of objects and many features that Google doesn’t have. We would be happy to find a way to cooperate with Google.
Here are some links:

I am new to the Google world. I have been using/playing with Google Earth and Google Map for more than a year. The recent new stuff "Google Sky" spurs my interest again, but then I am limited in computer skill and have been trying unsuccessfully to download this Google Sky. Wonder if anyone can tell me what to do, so that I can just a "click" and enter into Google Sky!
Many thansk.

D.K. Leung - you must download the new version of Google Earth, http://earth.google.com, when installed click on the planet icon link at the top of the application called 'Switch between Earth and Sky'.
