Fav.or.it: RSS reader that lets you see and submit comments
If you're like us, you probably spend a significant portion of your day with Google Reader or your favorite RSS reader open. But sometimes it's nice to see pages in their original context. For example, if you want to see comments other readers have left on a blog entry, there's pretty much no way to do that with most feed readers.
That's where fav.or.it comes in. The web service is still pre-private beta, but the goal is to create a Google Reader like RSS interface with support for comments.
Here's how it works. You read Download Squad or some other blog or news site (don't ask us why) using the fav.or.it. You find an article that you want to comment on and you can leave a message without leaving the page. You can also read comments left by other fav.or.it users.
There are also tools that allow web publishers to integrate fav.or.it with their sites, which pushes fav.or.it comments to the original web page. It's a little less clear whether the same tools will allow comments left on the original site to show up on fav.or.it.

FYI, there's a Greasemonkey script to see original posts within Google Reader. It's easy and nice. You can toggle back and forth post versions within the frame. Google Reader Preview Enhanced.

You can do that with Google Reader: see the original page and comments within the frame of any post. Use Google Reader Preview Enhanced, a Greasemonkey script. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9455

So I'm a little confused. You use fav.or.it and you can make comments but only other fav.or.it users can read them? They're only pushed back onto the original website if it has fav.or.it integrated with it? Although it would be convenient you would still miss the comments of those not using fav.or.it which can sometimes be very informative. Then again it would weed out a lot of the crappier posts too....
On the fence on this one for now.

I am pretty sure RSSBandit has this feature, and since I have not used that reader in at least a year, I am guessing it has had it for quite a while.

Guess it is limited to sites that support the proper APIs. If the blog post has the wfw:commentRss ewlement RSS Bandit will go and get the comments from that feed and display the items from it as a thread under the blog post.
