Avoiding lost data on a Windows PC
Lost data, the words should make any user cringe at the thought. Hours of time spent creating documents, all gone in a matter of seconds. It's something that we never want to happen to us.Of course there are ways to ensure that data can be recovered. Microsoft has been so kind as to build in a back up program on Windows XP and Vista operating systems. Wired has an outline of all the goodies users are going to need in order to achieve a proper backup of files. This includes a secondary external hard drive, the built in Windows XP or Vista backup options, 3rd party software options, and online backup options like Xdrive and Mozy.
Maybe we will be lucky enough to see system backups unnecessary in the upcoming years as operating systems evolve. After all, it would be a nice feature to build in.

Mozy is a great service. You get 2 Gigs for free and unlimited for $5/month. Fully encrypted, runs automatically behind the scenes, bandwidth throttling, local or web restores and it's off-site so it's a great for true disaster recovery.
If you use my referral code https://mozy.com/?code=F5AS78 we both get additional space for free.
Thanks.

Hi Chris,
I have been reading about the online backup industry for a while now. Online backup is maturing and slowly getting the attention of the general consumer.
One website worth mentioning is the backup review site:
http://www.BackupReview.info
This very informative site, not only posts up to date news and articles from the industry, but also lists about 400 online backup companies and ranks the top 25 on a monthly basis and features a CEO Spotlight page, where senior management people from the industry are interviewed.
I enjoy reading your posts. Keep it up!

Actually, they have SyncbackSE as being $30. They do in fact have a totally un-crippled freeware version as well.
Just scroll down to the flags, and you'll see the freeware section. Works fine for me.
