Windows XP SP3 leaked
Robin Hood was revered because he stole from the rich and gave to the poor. And while it's not quite the same thing, there isn't a whole lot of sympathy being thrown towards Microsoft when it was heard that a testing release of Windows XP SP3 was leaked and is floating around the internet now. Everyone loved watching Mel Gibson prove he's an idiot. Everyone loved watching Kramer lose his mind. And everyone loves when things don't go as planned for Microsoft. We love when people who seem to have everything together show that they don't. Plus this Windows leak is an hilarious slap in the face to Steven Sinofsky's little attempt at complete secrecy. It's so fitting that he'd be unsuccessful at keeping things secret, since he looks a bit like a really terrible magician (see picture).SP3 was given to a limited pool of testers in July, after being repeatedly delayed. It was originally planned to be release in 2005. Boy, did that ever go well. The leaked version of SP3 is not quite the finished product, or even a completed Beta, but that hasn't stopped it from becoming an incredibly popular torrent download. It comes in at around 340 Mb and can be found pretty much everywhere. But then again, you'd never download something illegally like this, would you?

as someone who has worked for both google, and microsoft, i also fail to see your point. maybe you mean somewhere other than the redmond campus....

Lol, someone said google is a dangerous company because you have new premium gmail accounts.
So does hotmail.
But Microsoft charges more for less space, and they also sell Vista ultimate for fucking more then an Xbox360.
Microsoft is gay.
Google, where you probably found this (Either that or Digg) is pwn.

This writer is a serious douche.

done and done, both great companies, and you...?

I agree with #14. The author seems to have a strange sense of humor that I can't relate to. I do not feel all that strongly about Mel, Kramer, and Microsoft being bashed as the author indicate I should. And I certainly do not see Steven Sinofsky as a magician in that photo.

@Shunnabunich
No it was not leaked before this, that was some community service pack put together by random people
shableepAug 10th 2007 8:12PM
aright, throw all the Microsoft jabs you want. that's perfectly cool with me. but at least throw some content at the end of it all. what does SP3 do? is there a hint of DX10 support? did they patch anything that was begging to have been patched 5 years ago?

dg10050:
i have actually worked/work at Microsoft and Google
and I'll tell you right now that they are both pretty nice places to work. There are actually quite a number of things in which I would take Microsoft over Google, so your statement is completely ungrounded.
As for everyone freaking out about this article, that is pretty much insane.

What's with these MS fanboys? I use Vista and Win Mobile, I like them both, but I also have a sense of humor. To paraphrase Doug Stanhope - Being a Microsoft fanboy is like going to a casino and rooting for the house.

I really enjoyed this article, althought it was a little biased, that is what blogging is all about, and I completly agree with the whole post.

As some people said above, downloading the software now would cause more problems than it would solve. However people do like to test the software themselves and it is fun to test beta stuff from Microsoft.
About the bashing, well weren't we born to bash Microsoft?

Yah, Microsoft bashing is pretty lame, and while I normally wouldn't have any issues against adding some "color" to your reporting (i.e. opinion), I just finished reading an article on FOX news and the infamous Bill O'Reily that got me fuming.
And rather than comment on the illogical and nonsensical "Go work at Google/Microsoft" comment, I'll let this man do the talking. It seems that he's definitely happy with his company, :P
