Cyberduck FTP - Mac Switcher
It turns out that Cyberduck FTP is a fantastic and free FTP client available for OS X. Sporting a quirky name and a funky logo, Cyberduck does everything you might expect an FTP client to do. While it doesn't have a text editor built in, that's almost a blessing in disguise; it plays nice with a whole bunch of popular editors, so if you have one installed you can tell Cyberduck to use that editor in the preferences.
Cyberduck feels very Mac-ish, which makes it not only pleasant to use, but very easy to learn. It comes bundled with a dashboard widget, which is intended to give direct file dropping capabilities. Unfortunately, we were unable to get it working, but we'll keep at it because it's a great idea.

Another FTP alternative on the Mac is Filezilla. It isn't quite ready for prime time yet but the developer is making leaps and bounds. I think in a few months it'll be a nice app.

I agree with John, Filezilla is the way to go on any platform.

I have paid for YummyFTP which I love, but I find CyberDuck a great free alternative. I am watching Filezilla, but, to be honest, it's kinda ugly.

If you need to do a quick upload from time to time, Cyberduck is finally after years of development stable for medium workloads. But if you are on a high latency connection, such as Cellular Broadband on the fringe of 3G coverage, or are on satillite, Cyberduck still has some stability issues.
If you upload mega large files or tons of tiny files say for a PHP project or source code (Probably should use CVS or Subversion there, but this is a for instance) Cyberduck also has stability issues here.
If you make a living as a web designer or PHP coder, it'd be in your best interest to try out Forklift or Transmit. ForkLift directly supports Amazon S3 storage and has a double-paned interface as well as some other nifty power user features.
Transmit is the best performing FTP client for Mac OS X from what I've seen by doing LAN transfers to internal FTP. It gets about 1MBit faster transfer on a 100mbit network than Cyberduck and it handles small file a lot better.
It's also worthy to note that most Mac FTP clients also have Dashboard widgets which allow you to drag and drop files through the widget from anywhere.
