Keep Recordin' lets your Windows Mobile keep recording
We're suckers for programs that do exactly what their title suggests. Keep Recordin' is a free Windows Mobile application that makes it easier to record long audio files on your phone or PDA.The built in Windows Mobile recording application stores files in your main memory. Given that most Windows Mobile device measure their built in storage in megabytes rather than gigabytes, that doesn't leave a lot of space for extended recording. If you want to record a business meeting, class lecture or bootleg-friendly concert, you'll have to set your device to record at an extraordinarily low sample rate.
Keep Recordin' overcomes this limitation by letting you choose an alternate storage location, like a flash memory card. The product description also says it "suppresses ambient noises and stores audio files in chronological order." But that pretty much means it labels each file with the date and time of the recording so that you can easily find it using the Windows Mobile File Explorer. As for the ambient noise suppression, that may mean it turns on Windows Mobile's automatic gain control for your device's microphone. It's not clear that anything else is going on under the hood of this 74KB program.
