One of the little annoyances in OS X is the fact that if you minimize a running window, it will not re-open when you use the task switcher to switch back to it. This is enough to drive a crazy person even crazier. In searching for a solution we stumbled across
Witch, which turns out to be a wonderful task switching replacement for OS X.
Witch opens up a vertical listing of available windows to switch to, with the familiar
opaque translucent dark background that has become popular amongst Mac and web based software pop-ups. Pleasantly, Witch shows multiple instances for applications that happen to have multiple windows open, allowing you to switch to the exact window you need. It will also restore a window that has been minimized.
If we have a beef with Witch, it's that it's ever so slightly slower than the Mac's built-in task switcher. But this is something we're willing to deal with given the added power Witch gives us.

That's a transparent background, not an opace one (opaque would be a solid color).
